Chinese porcelain

Excavated artifact
This porcelain is speculated to have been made sometime during the 15th to the 16th century in southern China; the rest is full of unknown facts. Only a few other similar relics have been dug up in this nation - one at a ruin in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture and another at Shuri Castle in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. This rare finding from the Ruins of Hinoe Castle comes in 17 broken pieces during the excavation research of the mid-level kuruwa-walls for Honmaru Tower. The pieces make up parts of what is believed to be an urn-shaped pot. Most of the pieces were found in a fertile ground laid after the castle was abandoned; however, a few of them surfaced from a foreign soil put back in the large void of the castle following a later research had concluded. Considering such circumstances, it is estimated that the latest it was in use most likely have been only till the latter half of the 1700窶冱.

Heat-pressed on the surface, the pottery displays intricate lines and patterns employed with Ryusen-style thin laces; then completed with a low heat fire after vivid refinishing touches of sky-blue, jade-green, yellow, red, and other colors following the initial biscuit-firing. The interior is green-glazed, thus making it one of a kind with such detailed handiworks as well as its distinctive, colorful design patterns.
