There used to be a large ancient pine tree on the hill in the Nomuki area, which the local residents affectionately called "Nomuki no Ipponmatsu (single pine tree of Nomuki)." Unfortunately, the tree was destroyed by pine-eating insects after the war, and sakura trees have been planted in place of the pine tree. You can see the many islands of Amakusa from this scenic spot.
