"This legendary giant from Minamishimabara City is said to have created farmland for the local citizens by using his enormous hoe to cut down the mountains, and helped the people with their farming. Locals affectionately call him “Misogoro-don” because miso is his favorite food.
At the Nishiarie Branch of Minamishimabara City Hall, youʼll find two Misogoro statues ̶ one on the side facing the national road and the other near the pond in the parking lot. Itʼs interesting to compare their looks.
